Wow, again I have let several months go by without updating this. I can do this today because my little cherub is at her "Grammy's" house! Sean and I had an entire date weekend and it was fantastic! We miss Kaia though and can't wait to see her today. Friday we went to dinner and a movie and slept in!! Last night we went to Providence and saw the Cake Boss!! It was great and no, we didn't get to eat cake! We did go to a little dessert restaurant after (at 10:30 at night!!) so I almost felt "young" again!! haha.....it was a nice night out.

The fabulous Sam of "samanthamariephotography" came down for a visit a few weekends ago! I will share a few photos but I don't want to spoil my Christmas card so only a few!! For the first time, Kaia actually laughed, smiled and said "cheeseburgers" for Sam! It is usually the hardest thing to get that child to smile for pictures! She is always laughing but for some reason would clam up for Sam! Thankfully, she really hammed it up this time!

I can't believe that in a few short weeks it will be Thanksgiving! I have started making my Christmas lists of things to buy and even marked the day for getting our Christmas tree on the calendar!! I'm getting excited but am I ready for this??

I really like how people post what they are thankful for this time of year. I'm thankful for my family most of all, but also for my health and the health of those I love. It's easy to forget how blessed we are.......

On the hubby front, Sean is currently taking Microbiology (yuck!) towards his nursing degree! I'm so proud of him for taking this giant step in his life! He will be a fantastic nurse.....now to get through the next 2 years of full time work, childrearing and school........yay me!! haha...

Wow, free time makes me write alot!! I think I'll post what I'm thankful for daily on my facebook page. It really makes you reflect on what you have! Happy holiday planning everyone and I'll "try" to update more often (in case anyone is reading)!!

Wow! It has been nearly 2 months since my last post and I apologize! Time is slipping away and I am powerless to stop it. So here goes: Kaia Sean Trainor is now 2 years old! She was such a good girl and seemed to enjoy her party and to this day she is still singing Happy Birthday to herself. She was spoiled by her family as usual and now has a nice array of new toys to play with...lucky girl! Her Daddy wanted to splurge on a moonbounce so that we did! I believe it was the highlight of her day and she was very sad when the "trampoline man" came to take it away!

Last week we went to Boothbay, Maine with a big group of family and friends. It was a blast. Not very relaxing but what is with a 2 year old?? It was nice to camp on the water, eat great food (lots of lobster) and just not have to be anywhere!! I could get used to that way of life!!! I signed Kaia up for dance class for the fall so we'll see how that goes.....

Otherwise, not much has changed and we are back to the daily grind! Enjoy!!

Augustus Griffin Trainor turned 1 yesterday!! There have been times during his first year that I didn't quite think he would live to see this day!! Here's to hoping that he'll calm down with one year under his belt!! We love him though. To celebrate, we took him (and K) to We-Lik-It ice cream (yummy)!! He thoroughly enjoyed his cone (see for yourself to the right)!! Kaia was such a big girl and sat at the picnic table and ate her entire cup of "i ceam" herself!! This coming from a child who NEVER eats!!

And to top it all off, poor Anna has been laboring ALL weekend long! We have been glued to our phones for any updates all weekend long. We're praying for you Anna and come on out baby Bean!!! We can't wait to meet you and hear what your "real" name is!!

Another Crazy Weekend......

We can't catch our breath this month!! Sean and I had a wedding on Saturday so Kaia spent the night with Grammy Pammy and Papa! She loves it there so there were no issues! She went swimming, out to eat, played, played, played!! Here are some pics to prove it!

Happy Father's Day to all the Daddy's out there! We spent the day with Sean's Dad, Pam and our little girl. Went swimming again where we quickly found out that Gus is a natural when it comes to water.....walked right down the steps into the pool and was rather happy!! Yet another way he is the complete opposite of Griffin!!

Keep your fingers crossed for me.....the boot may come off tomorrow!!! And, we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Bean Milot who may enter this world sooner than expected! My cousin Anna is now on bedrest and will have an amniocentesis tomorrow to see if Bean's lungs are developed enough to make his grand debut, so keep your fingers crossed for her (and him)!!

Weekend Getaway!

Sean and I spent this past weekend in New Hampshire at The Woodstock Inn in the White Mountains!! It was perfect (aside from the boot)!! We enjoyed some much-needed time together...we ate too much, drank too much, shopped too much! Overall, it was very relaxing and lots of fun and it felt a little like our "old life"...pre-Kaia. We missed our little girl lots though. She actually spoke with us on the phone for a pretty long time, something she never really wants to do. She ran her Nonny and Pop ragged this weekend but it sounds like it was a good weekend for all!

I loved driving the Kancamagus Highway and pulling over to enjoy the sights. Makes me realize what sheltered lives we live!! Back to the grind today......Happy Week everyone!

Wow..I need to update this thing. I think all my latest pictures are sitting on the camera, waiting to be uploaded. Good place for them, I know!

Yesterday was my appointment with the orthopedist where I was optimistically hopeful that my boot would come off, my crutches would be stored somewhere and I could wear 2real shoes again!! No such luck :( My foot is still broken, healing but not healed so I am in the boot for another 6 weeks!! Good news is I can toss the crutches now (this was nearly impossible when I was alone with my little monster)!! 6 more weeks of limping, 6 more weeks of wearing my ugly nursing clog on my good foot because it's the only shoe I own which equals the height of said boot! Yay me!! Could be worse I guess but we are in month 5 of this injury so this just plain sucks!! We did go get an exercise bike though so I can speed up my weight loss journey a bit! It was either that or swimming and how am I going to do that around here, with a child? Actually looking forward to "riding"!!

My little Kaia isn't so little anymore. She is 21 months old and I am already planning her 2nd birthday party! How????? She is at such a fun stage (most of the time) and having conversations with her is hilarious and uplifting. What a cutie and a smart girl too if I do say so myself! She can count to 12 by herself and higher if you help her. Love that girl! Apparently, Sean and I often use the word "dummy"...not too bad but not great when your little one starts repeating it. "Move Dummy"...to the dog, "mommy dummy"..to me, "dummy, dummy"...just because we tell her not to! And we won't even get started about her use of the word "firetruck" which she says exactly how you think she would. A small four letter word that gets the crowd laughing....not good!!!

The dog is the dog...enough said! If anyone wants him, he's free!! Just kidding. I will have to upload said photos later and post soon. Looking forward to a birthday-party filled weekend!!

Easter is Here!!

Wow...April 1st already?! This seems to be a common theme but where does the time go? I figured it was time to post some of Kaia's Easter photos, courtesy of Samantha Marie Photography!! Thanks Sam! I can't wait for this upcoming Easter weekend festivities! It will be so exciting to watch Kaia when she sees what the Easter Bunny brings her....if she behaves!! She is amazingly fun to be around lately, though her go to person always seems to be Daddy. She is so full of words (and attitude)!! She is such a little person already!! Where did my baby go? Now we really have to be careful what we say around her because she copies everything!!

I can't believe the flooding around town. We were so lucky...this time! Last year we suddenly started getting water in the basement. Of course this never happened before we finished the basement and then all of a sudden, we had to replace carpet that was only a month old!! Thankfully, my cousin's hubby Carl came to the rescue and found the problem! He sealed the base of the chimney (I think) and so far so good!! On the subject of carpets, my "puppy" seems to be quite fond of them for snack time! Over the past 2 weeks, he ate a total of 5!! So...his new home is the garage when we are gone and I am happy to say that I was able to upgrade to some new rugs that go better with my country motif!!

Foot update: Well, seeing as I fell down the stairs on January 8th, you would think that I was all better by now right? Nope!! I was seeing an podiatrist but thought I should seek a second opinion after my foot was still killing me and I was back to wearing my normal shoes. This week I went to an orthopedist and long story short....my fracture isn't healing (go figure) and I am now wearing a big ugly black boot and walking with crutches! Hopefully the crutches will help tone my arms for the summer!! This is not what I had in mind but I'll do what I need to do for my foot to heal. Thank God I trusted my gut and went for a second opinion. Oh and did I tell you...I actually have 2 broken bones now!! Yikes! Happy Easter everyone!

Wow! Little Miss Sadie turned 1 this week!! She threw a great party yesterday too!! Love her! She enjoyed her cupcake and didn't even make a huge mess...what a cutie!!

The foot update: it's broken! Yup, I was walking on a broken foot for almost 2 months! Now I'm in an ugly boot for another month and then we'll see. Hopefully it will heal fine now that we know what the problem is. I was starting to think it was all in my head!!

Take 2...I accidentally just erased my entire post so here I go again! Yes, this is my monthly update!! Congratulations to my incredible husband on a much-deserved promotion!! Sean is now the Emergency Medical Services Program Manager at Windham Hospital!! I'm so proud of you honey...you will be great!! For the past week we have been driving in to work TOGETHER, dropping Kaia off TOGETHER, picking Kaia up TOGETHER, and having a real family dinner TOGETHER!! This is big for us and so far all is going well! We drive 35 minutes away from home to work 1 minute away from each other. I feel like I am driving Ms. Daisy each morning!! Kaia seems to be adjusting to the change quite nicely.

Since my last post I turned 30 and let's just say things haven't been going so well. Here is a recap of my last month:
~ I fell down my entire flight of stairs, with Kaia in my arms, after slipping at the top. Kaia was fine (THANK GOD) aside from bruises from my death grips! I on the other hand had a nice colorful backside from my momentary stop on each and every step! Along the way, I somehow managed to wrench my foot and now, 6 weeks later, I still can't fully weight-bear on it. I finally went to the podiatrist this week and after looking at my xrays he feels that I may have torn a tendon or done some ligament damage. So for now, I get to wear a boot, take some meds and have a MRI. Yay me...I love being 30 (and old)!!
~ My wallet "disappeared". My brand new Vera Bradley wallet!! Without fully putting the blame on my hubby, I'll tell the story and let you decide. We were walking out of BJs with our hands full of stuff and baby!! I had said wallet under my arm and Sean took it from me to help me get a better grip of what I was carrying. We loaded up the car, put Kaia in her seat and went home. That was the last time we saw my wallet...with all my precious belongings inside!! It has been over a month and no word so I'm assuming it's gone for good. I filed a police report just in case, had to cancel everything, etc, etc. Losing your wallet sucks...bad!!!

I guess it could be worse but I've had enough. I want to start the year over at 29 please!! On a happy note, little Sadie will be turning 1 in less than a month. My good friend is preggo and having a little girl (yay!) and my bestest Anna is almost half-way through her pregnancy and will find out the sex this week!! I personally think it's a girl but maybe that is what I am hoping for!!! You can see Jaclyn & Anna's blogs from my page. New life is always a miracle so that makes me happy!!

Where did the time go?? And why haven't I posted since Halloween? Oh well...I hope everyone had wonderful holidays!! Today I started my new job; I think it's going to be a keeper!! Normal schedule, home every night with the fam, no weekends, no call, no holidays!! Keep your fingers crossed for me :)

Tomorrow I turn 30. No happy face after that! 30 scares me, I don't know why. Oh well, life goes on. Kaia is 17 months old and in to everything!! As I was typing this, she ran into the bathroom and flushed the toilet!! Thank God she didn't flush anything down the toilet!! She is so much fun even if she is a monster!! Gus was neutered last week and is on his 4th collar attempt to keep him from biting his staples. He ripped out his stitches while he was still at the vet, hence the staples. 4 more days of this....I want to take the staples out myself!!

Sean is running around like a crazy man but hopefully we'll see more of each other with my normal schedule, even if he doesn't have one. Anyway....must go chase the monster before she does something not so funny!!

How is it November 1st already?? Hope everyone had a great Halloween! We took Kaia visiting the grandparents and then went to Jaclyn's house. We took her down one road in her wagon and she seemed to have a blast! By the last house, she took a piece of candy from the man handing it out and put it in her bucket!! She was a chicken and I thought she looked very cute (even if my Grandmother said, "I've never seen a white pumpkin before")!! Oh well! Enjoy a few photos of my chicken!

On the job front I have 20 shifts left in case anyone was counting with me!! Happy start of the holiday season!! We are so ahead of the game this year; we've already started our Christmas shopping!! Go us!

Kissing Scarecrows

Yup...that is what she did when she found him today! She stood there talking to him and kissing him with a big "muah"!! So cute!!

Gus is getting bigger by the minute. Last week he weighed 29 pounds which was a 13 pound gain in 1 month!! He must be over 30 now. Sean turns the big 3-5 next Monday and I'm looking for something fun to do for the 3 of us that day. I'll take any suggestions!! Otherwise we are pretty much status quo here....just counting down the days until our lives have some normalcy (25 shifts to go in case you were wondering!).

And no, I'm not pregnant!! I will be leaving the place that has caused me much misery and stress!! I have accepted a position with Eastern Connecticut State University in the health services building. I am so excited. No more weekends or holidays and it is a state job complete with state benefits!! I start on January 4th (the day before my 30th birthday..yikes) and I am really looking forward to it. No more BS to deal with, no more being forced to see patients with complaints that I am not comfortable dealing with. Now we just have to get Andrea out of there too!!

Sean and I took Kaia to Lapsley Orchard to pick apples today. We were hoping for a hayride and pumpkin picking too but I guess we have to go elsewhere for that. Next week I hope!! Busy weekend ahead, Liz and Carl's wedding (at the place where we got married 7 years ago!) and then hopefully the Big E on Sunday. Grammy Pammy is taking Kaia overnight again on Saturday and we are praying for a better night than the last one!!!

Bad Mommy

So I know I hadn't updated in a bit until last week but I completely skipped over a very important event that occured over the summer. Kaia turned 1!!! We had nice weather for her party and we/she really enjoyed the day. Elana from Sweet E's Bakery made gorgeous (and delicious) cupcakes and Kaia loved hers!! As always, it was great to share the special day with so many of our family and friends! Thanks everyone!!

Yesterday we went to my cousin Megan's wedding at Tyrone Farm in Pomfret. What a beautiful place!! Congrats Megan and Tim!! Kaia didn't join us for this event though, she is spending the night with Grammy Pammy and Grandpa! What am I doing up at 7am you ask?? Well...funny you should ask! This was our first night sans baby in over 13 months and let's just say the night didn't go as well as expected. We planned to use the hot tub but when we got home it was raining :(
Sean was tired from all the Octoberfest he drank anyway so off to bed we went. Midnight came and the dog threw up in his crate. Out we went to let him do his business (in the rain) and clean up his mess in the crate. Back to bed for me...until 2am when the dog threw up again in his crate!! How is it that I am the only one who hears this and is capable of getting out of bed?? Second trip of the night for me!! Then hubby gets up to the bathroom for some Motrin I believe. When he is searching in the medicine cabinet, he knocks out a bottle of nail polish and it landed just right!! Yup...we have spent the early morning hours of our "free time" cleaning up pretty pink nail polish that landed all over the tile floor, in the grout, on the toilet and even the walls! Sean just left to get more acetone!! Yay to us and our special night alone!! hahaha.....

I know, I know...I'm really bad at this thing. But, to my defense, I do have two children now!! 2 whole weeks ago we brought home Augustus Griffin Trainor (Gus), our new puppy!! He has been a ton of fun (and equal the amount of work too!). Thankfully Kaia loves him and doesn't seem to care when he bites her! I think they will grow up to be best friends!! She already sits on him and pets him by banging on his little head! And they literally chew on each other toys...Yes Kaia chews on his toys too!

We have 2 more family weddings this month...congrats Megan and Tim and Liz and Carl! I promise to try and post pics more regularly :)

Kaia is growning like a weed...she basically runs (away from me!) and has her own little personality (or attitude)! She is so much fun and I love watching her grow everyday (except on the days that I have to work and I'm trying to work on that too!!). She even has a bunch of hair now! Little Ms. Sadie is growing as well. She still hasn't really let her mama sleep much though. I pray for her internal clock to settle soon!! Happy long weekend everyone!!

Fun Weekend

Hello?!! Is anybody out there?? I don't think anyone has commented on my posts in FOREVER so I'm not really sure that anyone is really reading this thing!! Are you??

Anyway, in case you are....we had a great weekend! First we had my cousin Ben & his new wife Meaghan's wedding Saturday. What a beautiful day for a wedding and it was so much fun! The bride and groom looked so beautiful and happy. Sadie looked cute with her little hair bow too! I wish we could have stayed until the end but Kaia had other plans. She was really good (and really likes cupcakes!) but she was quite tired by 9pm so we ended the festivities a bit early. Life with a baby!! Congratulations Ben & Meaghan!!! We love you!

Yesterday we headed up to Wallingford to spend the day with Sean's Dad and Pam for his Dad's birthday (yes, we actually had 2 days off together in a row!). We had a nice lunch and took Kaia swimming...her new favorite thing. (See how tired she was afterwards??). The pictures just don't do justice to her little squeals and kicks!! I can't believe I'm posting a pic of me in the pool but I thought the choice of drinks was pretty funny!! And one pic of Kaia with her new shopping cart, complete with wooden food!! Thanks Grammy Pammy & Grandpa!

We are off to Maine midweek for camping in Freeport. I'm only worried about the drive with Kaia!! My parents leave for Ireland this week as well. I'm praying they have a safe flight!! Happy Summer everyone!

Tour de Cure 2009

I know, I know..it has been a while! I am sorry! I don't feel as if I ever have 2 hands free to type but my little lovey is taking a nap so here I am!! It has been a long few weeks....Kaia had the puke bug (which I wore!!) and had her first bad fall! My poor little thing looks like one hot mess! She has a huge egg/bruise on her forehead and her cheek along with a rash that she got after being sick. Thank God for our pediatrician...he keeps me sane!! She wasn't eating but I am proud to say that she ate an entire cup of applesauce, so what if I had to sing to her the whole time to distract her!!

We have been on 2 camping trips over the past few weeks...having fun breaking in the camper! Next month we are camping in Freeport Maine and then on the Cape in August!Last weekend we participated in the Tour de Cure, a bike ride for the American Diabetes Association. The day didn't start out very good, it was pouring when we got up but the sun came out just in time for us to start our ride. I wish I could say the same for my Dad and my uncle! They started earlier because they were doing longer rides. I am proud to say that we finished the 15 mile, doesn't sound like much but my legs were aching at the end!! I guess it would have helped to train more than 2 times!! My Uncle Paul completed the 100 mile ride which is actually nothing for him since he is about to embark on a ride across the US this summer! Good luck and be safe!! My Dad had ambitions to complete the 60 mile but God had other plans in store for him. Poor guy started out in the rain but got behind because of a flat tire. Once that was fixed, the other tire went!! At least they were both fixed in time for him to ride with us...and he beat me by a while!! Hopefully our efforts will help find a cure for my BFF Anna!! Thanks for arranging our team!! I should start training now for next year!! Here is a picture of most of our team members and all of our family who came to cheer us on!! I have some Kaia pics but I have to upload them. Soon, I promise!!

Kaia is exactly 1.5 months away from being 1!! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. We are busy planning her party and getting ready to bring home the new pup!! Miss Sadie is growing like a weed too. Her cheeks are huge (but so cute!!) and she talks and laughs now. How time flies!!

Memorial Day

Thanks to Vicki and Scott for having us over yesterday. We had a blast! Kaia went in the kiddie pool (with her bathing suit and swim diaper on) and promptly decided she wanted out. So after a whole 2 minutes, I took her out and changed her back into her regular diaper and clothes. Bad idea!! She crawled back over to the pool and started splashing her little hands so much that she was soaked. So...she ended up back in the pool, fully clothed and played for a long time! I had to take her out because her little arms and legs were cold. I think we may have a little water bug on our hands!! We won't talk about the state of her diaper when we took her out!

All the kiddos were so cute yesterday. Sadie was smiling and talking and it's hard to tell who is who when she sits on her daddy's lap!! Matthew slept the whole afternoon and Emma played and played! Hope she slept well last night! I think Anna & Eric need to get working on a little Milot to add to the group!

Let's Go to the Zoo!

It was supposed to rain today so we cancelled our practice bike ride but we ended up still having fun! We took Kaia on her first trip to the zoo! We went to the Rogers Williams Zoo in Providence and had so much fun. She loved seeing all the animals and other kiddos around. The rain held off..mostly and we made the most of our first day off together in a long time. There is a carousel close by and K and Sean went for a ride together! From there we went to the Cheesecake Factory (yummy!) and Kaia pretty much behaved there too! She sat in the big girl high chair and managed to throw 4, yes 4, spoons onto the floor for our poor waiter to pick up. She also managed to dump her own food that I had brought as well. Welcome to parenthood I guess! I also had my first experience changing a poopy diaper in a cramped bathroom stall. The stories I will have to share with my little cutie!

Kaia even let us walk around the mall and shop a bit too! Thank you honey for my Valentine's Day gift (we are a bit behind this year)! I finally got my Pandora bracelet and I love it. Can't wait to keep adding to it. Maybe I'll get one for Mother's Day by Christmas. I'll keep my fingers crossed!! We made the mistake of giving her a little football to play with in Old Navy and when it was time to leave the store, someone did not want to part with it. The screams, the screams!! So now, our favorite new toy is a cute little football, Pop will be proud! Needless to say, she fell fast asleep on the way home from her first crazy, fun-filled day! Welcome to my new life!!

PS: yes, I now have bangs (I copied you Tina!!) and I am wearing my ultra-cool FBI jacket (thank you Pam!) that I love!! Time to paint the living room...or watch the Red Sox game!! Cheesecake later (thank you Danielle!!).

So if you know me at all, you know that I don't/can't really cook! Well, I am proud to say that I made a delicious homemade dish or stuffed shells last night! It even looked pretty! There is hope for me after all. And everyone that ate it liked it...at least they said they did. At least I can bake!! I must have been in a mood yesterday (and Kaia allowed me the time) but the dinner thing came after I spent a loooong time making baby food. But not just any baby food! This time I did some different things and when I was done, Kaia has a freezer full of new foods to try. This may be boring to you but I am so excited. Her menu includes green beans with mint (took me forever and she hated it!!), whipped cauliflower (very yummy...I may have to make it for the "adults"), plums and prunes! I also had to restock the sweet potatoes, apples and pears. Yay me!

In June we are participating in the Tour de Cure, a bike ride for the American Diabetes Association. Since it was so beautiful today, we finally took our bikes out of the shed, dusted them off, filled the tires and went for a ride. Kaia even came with us!! We only did about 2 miles but it's a start. We will be doing the 15 mile course for the actual ride. It's in Narragansett so come watch and enjoy the water!

And since it's been a while since I have reported on the Kaia front...here goes. She is sleeping through the night, in her own crib and has 4 teeth that I can count! She is so much fun and is now on the move and getting into trouble. For instance, today we went to Gymboree since it is Gymbuck time, and we found the cutest little caterpillar stuffed animal. We decided to buy it and proceeded to give it to her to hold. While I was shopping, I assumed that Sean was watching what she was doing. I thought wrong! When I looked down at her, she was eating, or had eaten, half of the price tag off!! There was a piece way back on her tongue and she wouldn't let me get at it. What great parents we are! So I had to pay for the stupid thing by handing the cashier the wet and half-eaten tag! Oh well....she is so much fun!

If you haven't heard yet, I'm currently in the hospital with meningitis! Crazy, I know. But, since I am here, obviously my baby is not. Today is day 3 that I haven't seen her and I miss her so terribly. Thankfully everyone has been so helpful with watching her and I know she is in good hands. Grammy Pammy and Grandpa and staying at our house with her and they have been sending me pics, thank you!! I will share some here for you to enjoy as well. She doesn't seem to miss me much!! She stayed with Nonny and Pop on Friday and even went to a funeral. Apparently she was well-behaved, thankfully!!

I'm improving but will likely be here until tomorrow. The docs are waiting on my cultures to come back to decide if this is viral or bacterial. Let's hope for viral, otherwise I have to go home with a PICC line and antibiotics at home. I'll keep you posted. Thank you for all your well wishes!!

It is 5am and I just got home from the hospital. Jaclyn had her baby this morning!! What a quick labor too. She got to the hospital around midnight and was 3 cm dilated, an hour later she was 9 cm and out popped the little peanut at 0245am!! They had a baby girl and named her Sadie Lavina Gervais. She is absolutely adorable and so tiny!! She only weighed 6 lbs and she is 19 inches long. She has a full head of dark, curly hair! Now Kaia has a BFF for life! Mom and baby are doing well and Marcel is so in love already! Jaclyn was so strong and such a trooper too! Congrats guys..we love you and are so excited!! Pics to follow soon, I promise!!

Hello all! I know, I know...I've been away from here for a bit. No excuses but I just can't seem to find the time lately!! Anyway...time to update all the happenings as of late!!

First of all, I am still not an auntie yet. Jaclyn was due yesterday but she didn't make it happen. And not for a lack of trying I'm sure. That kiddo doesn't seem to want to exit the warm and cozy womb just yet!! We are anxiously awaiting it's arrival though. I'll be sure to keep you posted when the big day comes (for real)!!!

On to the Kaia front: Well, she is now 18 lbs and has her first tooth! She is rolling and rolling and gets up like she wants to crawl. She is actually 7 months old today and I still can't believe it. She eats solids like a champ and I am proud to say that I make all her food. This coming from the person who cannot cook to save her life!! It's actually pretty easy though...lots of steaming and pureeing and then freezing. Some of the faces are priceless though, especially if she isn't too keen on "what's for dinner".

Sean and I are heading to Atlanta in a few weeks for a conference and a visit with his mom and family. Flying with a baby for the first time is sure to be an adventure! Pray for us!

I have several pics to share today...all of Baby K of course! Grammy Pammy bought her tons of outfits and adorable shoes for the spring and they played dress up with one of her hats and sunglasses....I can't wait to see her in all the cute clothes in the warmer months! The last few pics were taken this week. She has been sick with a faucet of a nose and rosey-red cheeks. This didn't stop her from having fun at bath time with Nonny!! 6 months old!

How on earth is that possible already??? Kaia is growing so fast and reaching her milestones that I want it to slow a bit!! It still amazes me that she is half me and half Sean and I just love watching her every day. She is a bouncing fool though!! She absolutely loves her jumparoo horse, affectionately named "Jillalita", after Jaclyn's fictitious tree horse she had growing up! She jumps all the time, even when I'm holding her. This picture is from our trip to the grocery store this week. This was the first time she was out of her car seat and she LOVED it! She was a big hit as well. She has just about mastered sitting up alone but every once in a while she would start to lean to the side a bit. She was fine after a quick adjustment though! She is already outgrowing her car seat, therefore we are spending more money on new ones!! Oh well, the joys of parenting I guess! Stay tuned for more Stacey pics too...she is coming back this month and we can't wait!!

I think I picked my living room color but Sean says I shouldn't paint until the spring when we can open windows. I'm itching to start this project though. Do I really have to wait??

Still Sick!

Okay, I'll admit it...Sean is still sick and I can no longer call this a "man cold"; however, it did start out exactly like the video!! I feel bad for my poor hubby but I think he has a virus so there is nothing I can do for him, aside from making him soup (from a can!!), and checking his temperature every now and then. For some reason, this makes him feel better! Kaia really wants to be held by him but he is resisting, with good reason. She keeps giving him big smiles and reaching her hands out towards him. That's gotta be hard for him!! Feel better soon honey!!

Kaia is such a joy to have! She rolls from her back to her belly so well now (big milestone!). She is perfect in every way......except the sleep department!! Some day I'll look back on this and laugh but I am so very tired right now! I haven't slept more than 2 hours at a time for months!! Guess I'll sleep when I die!! Not that it will get much better since we are planning another puppy and I'm sure another baby in the future!! Sean says we need a little time (to catch up on sleep!) before we try for baby #2 but yesterday he told Kaia that she was so cute it made him want another one!! At least it means he is thinking about it! Don't get me wrong....I am in no way ready for another right now!! Sooner rather than later though.

Jac only has 5 weeks left until baby comes!! How on earth is that possible?? I am so excited for her to have this experience. Oh and to meet the little one!! It's so true that time flies...Kaia is almost 6 months old already!! Yikes!!! Better get started on baby #2 soon if I want them to be close in age!

So in all of my spare time (haha), I want to embark on a new, somewhat major, project. I'm thinking of painting the living room and I promise it won't be sage green this time! For those of you who have seen my abode know that I have lots of green! I'm going for a light bluish green and I think I want to do a chocolate brown accent wall. Now if I can only find the time to get to the store to look at colors...on-line paint shopping doesn't sound smart to me!! Any helpful hints would be appreciated!!

So, apparently I am one of those people who only blog twice a month! I am so busy, or at least I feel like I am. Kaia is actually sleeping right now, something she still doesn't do well at night, so my hands are free for a bit.

I can't believe 2008 is gone and 2009 is here already! How did we have a baby and how is she over 5 months old already?? This year brings so many exciting things too! First, we have the upcoming birth of my niecephew (we don't know the sex!), adding a puppy to our family, and of course, watching Kaia grow! It is crazy how life changes.

I wish everyone a happy and safe 2009! I'll share some more photos of Baby K...stealing Auntie's water bottle, riding her horse and sitting with her big cousins Ben & Meaghan!

Hi all! What a busy time of year! I love the holidays but hate how they seem to fly by! Shopping isn't as easy with a baby! I have been way behind this year and then when I do have gifts...finding time to wrap is another story! One picture is our last shopping adventure. Kaia loves to be facing out to see the world! Obviously, she was pooped to say the least!

News on the Kaia front...she now weighs over 15 pounds and has started solids! She still isn't sure what the heck we are doing but she gets a little better every day! She still doesn't even take an entire teaspoon of rice cereal but it has been fun watching her with this new "experience". You should see the faces! And she seems so tiny in her chair. Sean snapped one of the pictures when she was mid-smile...she looks so funny!

We hope you have a fantastic holiday! We are hosting Christmas Eve this year but Sean is working Christmas day. I can't believe 2009 is almost upon us! Pretty soon we get to meet our new little niecephew!! So much to look forward to!

Fun Weekend

So sorry it has been a while since my last post! I started back at work the day after Thanksgiving so we have been adjusting to our life as a "working family"!! Work sucks, especially knowing that I have a really cute baby and hubby at home without me!! This weekend was our first days off together in over a week and we had fun!!

We cut down our tree yesterday and Kaia joined in on the fun! It was cold but she was all bundled and I wore her on my chest as Daddy cut down our tree. We got to have cider and cookies and Kaia even sat on Santa's lap! I guess that was more for me than for her but she could've cared less! At least she didn't cry!! Oh and how could I forget.....we started our day in the best way possible. We got to go play with puppies!!! By now, everyone knows we lost our beloved Griffin the day after we brought Kaia home. Well....we are in the market for a new fuzzball! However, since I have a 4 1/2 month old, right now isn't the optimal time! But, we have met the mommy of our future golden! Right now, the baby is just a twinkle in his mama's eye, but he'll be coming home with us mid August. Just around the time when Baby K is starting to walk so not only will I be chasing her, but a cute little pup as well! There is never a good time to get a puppy so I guess we'll just go for it (in a few months though!).

Today we went to Sean's Dad's house for a Trainor Christmas gathering. It was nice to see people we don't get to see very often and we had a great day. Kaia was very good but not in the smiliest of moods for some reason!! I'll share a few pics from the weekend. I can't believe the countdown to Christmas is already on; guess I better get moving on my shopping!!

I am so proud of my hubby! If you remember, he left for 5 days to take a class in Minnesota last month. While he was there, he took "the hardest test ever" to become certified as a Flight Paramedic and we found out today, after several long weeks of worry, that he PASSED!!! Congratulations honey!! Kaia and I are so proud of you. Our smarty pants!! Now he has more letters after his name than I do!!!

I just had to add this pic of Baby K at the wheel! The Trainor's get 'em started early!

Please say a prayer for my Grandfather and our family this week. He is about to have major surgery and we need all the thoughts and prayers we can get!!

Rainy Beach Walk

Since it was such a beautiful day last Wednesday, Sean and I decided to take Baby K to Harkness Park for a walk on the beach! Of course, as soon as we get there it starts to rain! We took a few pics but didn't get to walk like we planned!

I bought a kit to make a mold of Kaia's hand to keep as an ornament. Her little hands are my favorite part!! Of course, since nothing ever works out like it is supposed to, we didn't get our cute, perfect little hand mold like the cover showed! After many attempts, and hardening plaster, we gave up with the hand and used her foot. That didn't come out beautifully either but at least I can see for sure that she has my gigantic feet already! I bought her cute little boots size 3-6 months last week....and they don't fit!! She is only a little over 3 months, poor kid! Here is a pic of our plaster disaster!

I have to add the most recent pic of her after Nonny gave her a bath. I think one of the first few posts had one as well and I can't believe how much she has grown since then! And finally, here she is with Pop, asleep in the chair! And for the record, she NEVER takes a pacifier from us, what is the secret??

Halloween Fun!

Happy belated Halloween everyone! Friday night was fun hanging out at Jac's with the fam, handing out candy and playing Wii! Kaia was rather fussy that night so I don't think she had too much fun. The costume didn't last very long! Saturday night was the annual benefit dance for my late cousin Erin. It was a great turnout and everyone's costumes were hilarious!! Baby K was in a much better mood as well! I'll share pics of everyone...let's see, we have Dog the Bounty Hunter and his preggo wife Beth, Juno and Bleeker, Batman and his little peapod, some FBI woman and I was dressed as the mother of a 3 month old!

I can't believe we are now in November and I am already planning Christmas eve dinner, which I am hosting this year! Kaia is being baptised in less than 2 weeks, Thanksgiving is less than 4 weeks away and I am going back to work this month!! I am dreading going back. Kaia is so much fun now! She smile a lot and laughs when I talk to her. She rolls and uses her hands! I'm so proud!! Happy November all!

Kaia has now rolled over from her belly to her back! This is a big milestone for all of you non-parents out there!! Of course, mama (me) is the one who has been working with her on this and who got to see her roll over?? Daddy of course!! I was upstairs making a pie (this doesn't happen often) and Sean yells up to me that she just rolled over! At least I got to see her do it yesterday. We love her!!

Nap Time!

So my child who never sleeps is now sleeping (napping) at 8pm! How on earth will she sleep tonight?? Maybe she is just excited that her daddy is coming home tonight after being gone for 5 days!! We missed him! Kaia and mama had fun together though. We were sad that our Red Sox lost! Kaia sat in her Bumbo chair yesterday, what a big girl!! Of course, we had to take pictures and send them to Daddy!!

We are so excited to meet Auntie's new baby in a few months! Not only am I a new mama but I will be an auntie for the first time as well! More good baby news...my cousin Vicki is preggo with #2, Emma will be a big sister soon! Congrats guys!

My Little Fatty!!

Kaia had her 2 month visit this week (though she is 10 weeks already!). She had to get her first shots which wasn't very fun, even for me!! On a good note, she gained 3pounds in 5 weeks and is now in the 75th% for weight!! I am such a proud mommy! I can't believe how much she has changed from only a few weeks ago. Don't get me wrong, she still isn't what I would call the happiest baby (haha), but she is sleeping better and smiling for me often (of course, this is only when I am alone with her so no one believes me!!). Before I know it, I'll be feeding her solid foods. It is true when they say this time flies. I am going back to work next month already! I am so sad about that; I want to be with her and witness all the neat and exciting things she will do. I am fortunate that I don't have to leave her in the care of someone else 5 days a week though so for that I count my blessings!

Jaclyn is already 20 weeks pregnant and looking adorable! See what I mean about time flying?? How is she halfway through this pregnancy already??? Baby K is so excited to meet her cousin. However, she refuses to tell anyone whether she is having a boy or a girl cousin! Either way, I am sure they will be BFFs!! (Oh and my title to this blog was not directed at you Jac!).

Coolest Kid in School!!

That is what I feel like right now! You will likely see the same on Jaclyn and Anna's blogs. So, thanks to Anna, Jaclyn and I (and Anna) had a brush with fame tonight. She invited us to UConn to see Jodi Sweetin (aka: Stephanie Tanner from Full House)! She was speaking about her life and her battle with addiction. Well, being that Anna is the coolest kid in class, not only did we get to see her speak and have excellent seats but, and you may not believe this, but we got to go with Anna to pick her up at her hotel!! Yes...we rode in the car with Stephanie Tanner!! How cool is that?!! It wasn't a long ride and she was totally nice so it wasn't weird at all. So down to earth! And of course my camera wasn't working right so our pics aren't the best but I will still share. I know you are all jealous!!!

And of course I have to add some recent K pics!! It was my first night out and she stayed with Daddy for 5 hours without me! I won't harp on the fact that she wasn't in her pj's when I got home!!

Ten Things

I'm copying this idea from one of my blogging friends...10 random things. Here goes!!

1. I had Lasik surgery a few years back (you know, to get rid of the contacts) and guess what I had to buy yesterday?? Glasses!!! I thought it was my pregnancy that was making my eyesight bad...nope!!

2. Yesterday was Griffin's 5th birthday. I miss him so much.

3. Kaia is now 2 months old!! Her adorable little christening gown came in yesterday!

4. I have lost all of my pregnancy weight! So why don't all my old clothes fit??

5. I bought my pumpkins and mums this week...so beautiful. I love this time of year! If Sean and I were going to get married again (notice I didn't say if I got married again!!) I would love to do it this time of year, or elope to the islands.

6. I could spend so much money shopping for clothes for Kaia! Have you seen the clothes at Baby Gap?

7. Finding daycare is much harder than I expected. If only I didn't have to go back to work! How can I become a millionaire??

8. We went to the mall for the first time in over 2 months yesterday! It is amazing how we used to take that for granted. FYI-- Kaia was great, aside from a major blowout!!

9. Sometimes I miss school. I can't believe I just wrote that! I have even looked into doctorate programs but then I slapped myself in the face and came back to reality!

10. I'm selling my washer and dryer on craigslist. I feel like an adult now!

I must show you the cutest little feet (see picture!!). I don't want to change her because I love playing with them!!

Camping Weekend

So we took our first camping trip as a trio this weekend and we had a blast! We wanted to try out our new camper and Kaia has proven that this is something she will enjoy for years to come! She was very interested in all her surroundings, so much so that she kept fighting a nap! She was very good at night, she didn't wake the neighbors with her crying...though her parents didn't sleep too much! We are used to it though. We loved our camper and the weather was great. Thanks to all our visitors as well! Of course most of my pics are of Kaia but I couldn't resist. She looked so cute in all her hats!! As you can see, she wasn't always a "happy camper", but I think overall she had fun! Heat and a bathroom....now that is camping!!

Eye Appointment

I am a few days late with this update but I wanted to share details about Kaia's appt with the pediatric opthalmologist last week. For those of you who saw her in her first few days, you may remember the crazy bruising around her eyes. At first it was thought it was trauma from birth but our pediatrician said it was an angioma. An angioma can occur anywhere on the body and is essentially a collection of blood vessels that should disappear before the age of 5. Because it was so close to her little eyes, he wanted her to be checked by an eye specialist. We were concerned about it and hoped her eyes were okay! In the meantime, she developed bilateral tear duct obstructions, which meant she had tons of eye goop because the tear ducts weren't draining! She was quite the site! To help with that, I massaged the areas to help it drain. She hated it but I felt like I was doing something for her! And then one day, picture day actually, her eyes just cleared up!! Even the angioma looked better. So we went to the specialist appt last week. We brought pictures so she could see what we were talking about since she had cleared up. My poor little girl didn't have an angioma but had something called a dacryocele! Apparently this isn't very common and is something similar to a hernia (of the lacrimal sac--by the eye). This went along with the tear duct obstructions. If not treated, surgery is needed to decompress the area. Well, new mommy that I am....I cured her with my obsessive massage of the area!! The doctor said that is what made it go away!! And thank God no surgery is needed! This shouldn't ever come back and her eyes are fine!! What a relief! So this is our first medical story with our darling Kaia! Here are before and after photos so you can see what I mean. And the specialist we saw practices and teaches at Yale and asked us to email some photos of her eyes to use in teaching the med students. She will be famous!!

Just another Sunday

Nothing new in the Trainor household; well, we did buy a camper last week! If you have never been, don't knock it! It is such a fun way to relax and hang with family and friends. And now we actually have our own bathroom! Goodbye tent camping!! And luckily we have a big group that enjoys it as well!

Kaia has been a little better sleeping wise lately. She almost made 5 hours last night, her best yet!! I thought something was wrong! She still looks just like her daddy though! What the heck?? I do all the work and she doesn't look a thing like me!

Time Flies

How has it been almost a year already since we were in Europe? On the other hand, it feels like that was in a different life. It's funny how much you change as a family and individually once you have a child. Maybe some day we'll visit again with Kaia!

Kaia had been having a bit of trouble gaining weight in the beginning but I am proud to report that she gained 1 pound and 1 oz in 2 weeks, per doctors orders! She is now 8# 11oz, my little fatty! She is smiling more and more and I love it!

So I am sure you all have pictures of those days when you aren't looking (or feeling) your best! Sean snapped a quiet moment of Kaia and I; of course I hadn't showered and was completely exhausted! Then I took one of him multi-tasking while giving Kaia her supplement formula. (Long story....I am breastfeeding but she still needs a bit extra to help her gain some weight!). The last pic is of her lounging with her Daddy watching a movie! She didn't last long in that position though! This job is hard work!! She seems to be getting bigger every day and I love all her little faces and expressions. She evens opens her mouth now when I kiss her...so cute!! Now if only she would sleep better.....

We have been parents for 3 whole weeks now! Crazy! People tell you how hard it is but I don't think you can fully understand until you experience it yourself. What no one told me was how much it would change my feelings for my husband. I have always loved him, more than anything, but seeing him in daddy mode with the baby that we made together has opened up a whole new type of feeling. He is amazing and now I find myself worrying not only for my daughter, but my husband too! I worry if he is getting enough sleep and how he is adjusting to our new roles. I want to make sure he still feels important and knows how much I love him! I don't think anyone ever told me about this change!!

Since I write this blog....thank you honey for all your help and I look forward to raising our beautiful daughter together! I love you!!

And thank you everyone for all your help as well. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends! Bye for now!

How have 2 weeks passed already??

Kaia is 2 weeks old today! Where has the time gone? Before we know it Sean will be back at work and I will still be adjusting to my new role as Mommy! She is gaining weight which is evident in her fat little cheeks! I love her expressions and all her little noises. Stacey came over today to take Kaia's first pictures. But it isn't me this time.......Auntie Jaclyn is pregnant!! Kaia will have a little cousin to grow up with! Congratulations Auntie Jaclyn & Uncle Marcel! We are so happy for you and can't wait to share this crazy but special time with you in a few months (they are due February 28th)!! We love you guys!

I have been meaning to post an update every day but things seem to be so busy!! Kaia is doing well, already changing so much in my opinion! I just wish she liked to sleep more at night! I can't believe how much she looks like Sean...it's funny! It is amazing how one little being requires so much of your time, attention and love! She is so precious; we are so in love!

With sadness, we lost Griffin the day after Kaia came home. We miss him so much and still don't believe he isn't here anymore. Rest in peace buddy, we love you forever!

Baby Kaia has arrived!

Our beautiful baby girl, Kaia, was born today at 2:32pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and is 19 1/2 inches long. What an amazing addition to our family! We are so happy and proud to share the news! Since it was his job to announce the baby's gender, Daddy Sean was surprised to say, "It's a boy...wait, no, it's a girl!" After being placed on Mommy Julie after birth, Baby Kaia promptly peed and pooped before anyone could get a diaper on the little one!

Sean, Griffin, and I are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first baby! We're starting this blog so that we can share our stories of life with a newborn (hopefully tomorrow). I am sitting here breathing through contractions as I type and I can't wait to finally meet the little one who's been kicking me for the past several months! We don't know if this little one is a he or a she and I think our patience will result in an amazing surprise. Stay tuned for updates!
